Mars Society - Mars Analog Habitats: Unlike many mainstream space advocacy organizations, the Mars Society has emphasized hands-on activities with ambitious projects like the Flashline Mars Arctic Station in the Canadian Arctic and the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. These projects are intended to develop actual technologies and techniques that can be used by future Mars explorers and settlers. The facilities are also used to educate and inspire Society members and the general public about Mars exploration.

Other Mars Society projects include the European Mars Arctic Research Station (EuroMARS), which will be installed in Iceland, and the Pressurized Mars Analog Rover, developed by the Australian Mars Society. It would allow for long term exploration away from a habitat.

Orbital Recovery - CX-OLEV space tug
The CX-OLEV Space Tug - Orbital Recovery

Orbital Recovery is a start-up company that is developing the "ConeXpress Orbital Life Extension Vehicle (CX-OLEVTM) - an orbital "space tug" that will supply the propulsion, navigation and guidance to maintain a telecom satellite in its proper orbital slot for up to eight additional years. The CX-OLEV also can be used to rescue spacecraft that have been placed in a wrong orbit by their launch vehicles, or which have become stranded in an incorrect orbital location during positioning maneuvers."

Near Space Exploration
High Altitude Balloon - Treasure Valley Near Space Program

"What can you do with $150 worth of balloon and helium? You can send experiments into near space! Near space, that region of the Earth's atmosphere between 75,000 and 328,000 feet, has an environment far more similar to space than it does to the surface of the Earth." Continue at TVNSP
