The second place purse ($500k) for Level II will remain if neither Masten nor Unreasonable are able to make qualifying flights this week. BonNova and other teams would then have another chance next year to compete for it. Otherwise, the NGLLC will finish this year. I hope some sort of new Challenge or annual event will arise to continue to encourage development of VTVL vehicles. Perhaps the X PRIZE Cup could be resurrected or an air show somewhere could be found that hold Vertical Drag Racing events, something that John Carmack has long talked about.
