- 1993 – called for canceling Space Station because of extreme costs, delays, etc.
- Need a space station but NASA wasn't getting it done
- 20 years later now opening conference at a NASA center.

- Stand for opening space to everyone
- Need a participatory approach to space
- Space is not an agency or program
- Foundation has encouraged projects, companies, ideas, etc.
- An SFF Advocate is now a member of the Augustine commission
- Both administrator and deputy nominees said in the testimony that commercial space crucial to NASA's mission.
- Space really has become a jobs program to many elected officials in DC
- Goes back to Apollo
- Can't be just about jobs. What about number of people in space?
- Helped to get money for DC-X from NASA by agreeing not to attack Space Station Freedom
