At the upcoming NewSpace 2010 conference, the makers of the movie Moon and the Spacevidcast team will receive awards from the Space Frontier Foundation: "Vision of the Future" and "Best Presentation of Space" Winners Announced - SFF - July.15.10.

Space Frontier Foundation co-founder Rick Tumlinson will be a guest speaker at the 62 Mile Club's space meet-up on July 20th in Marina del Re: Riding the Wave, New Space Defined with Guest Speaker: Rick Tumlinson.

Space Travelers Emporium opens today in San Diego

On my other blog I've posted about the San Diego Space Society innovative Space Travelers Emporium that is opening today: Space Society store shoots for the moon - SignOnSanDiego.com.

Sounds like a great idea to combine a space themed store with a space advocacy hangout offering a library and a room for lectures and film showings. I hope it becomes a trend with space advocacy groups around the country.

Burton will discuss the newly announced European Commission Space Research Program, which is now actively seeking US companies and universities for participation and funding. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the EC is a new player on the international space scene, and should not be confused with the European Space Agency (ESA), which is a completely separate program, budget and organization. Dr Lee will be hosting the European Commission at Stanford on Wed July 21 for an open information session on how US space firms and university researchers can apply for EC grant funds in the following areas: Cubesats, space transportation and propulsion systems, robotic exploration technologies and Near Earth Objects (NEOs)".

3. Thursday, July 15, 7-8:30 PM PDT: We welcome Dr. Ralph McNutt, Jr. to the program. Dr. McNutt, Jr. is a Physicist and a member of the Principal Professional Staff of The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
