The Mars
Polar Lander disappeared in 1999 as
it attempted to reach the surface of the
Red Planet. The University of Arizona team
that built and operates the HiRISE
imaging system on the Mars
Reconaissance Orbiter has started a
project in which public volunteers can scan
HiRISE images of the area where the MPL
is believed to have crashed and try to spot

Project
Enterprise is a European project that is developing
a commercial suborbital
space tourism vehicle called the Enterprise.
The collaboration includes the TALIS-Institute,
Swiss Propulsion Laboratory (SPL), VEGA,
and Xtreme
Air GmbH. The goal is first
to develop a low altitude rocketplance called
the Black Sky by 2010 and then to
begin test flying the Enterprise in 2011, with
paying passenger flights by 2013.
